All Spring Classes Online

There will be no in-person undergraduate courses at UC Davis at the start of spring term. Even if in-person instruction is allowed to restart mid-quarter, all students will be able to complete the quarter online. This includes lab classes.

In Memoriam: Professor Emeritus Philip Yager

Philip M. Yager, professor emeritus of physics, passed away March 1, 2020. He was 81. Phil Yager earned a PhD in physics from the University of California, San Diego, in 1973. He joined the University of California, Davis, as an Assistant Professor of Physics in 1973 and pursued particle physics research over a long and fruitful career until his retirement in 2006. He is remembered fondly by colleagues for his wisdom and wit, and he will be sadly missed.

The American Physical Society recently profiled December Martin, who earned her Physics BS degree from UC Davis in 2000. As the APS piece describes, she went on to a career in biotechnology and has done substantial volunteering as well.
