*Alternative to Honors Courses.
**Honors Physics highly recommends advanced placement in calculus, but this can be waived for PHY 9HA, 9HB, and 9HC. MAT 21D is strictly required for PHY 9HD, so if you are placed in MAT 21A and take PHY 9HA, you will need to take MAT 21D over the summer.
# Course not offered every year.

Core Courses are those bolded (41 units). Students must take (8 units) of advanced elective. Students must take 3 italicized courses, two of which must be a 2-course sequence in the same field of Physics and the third in a different field (12 units: Astro/Cosmo, Nuclear/Particle, or Condensed Matter).

Course Substitution/Waiver Requests

  • Needs to be submitted well in advance, preferably prior to enrollment in the course.
  • Contact the Undergraduate Academic Advisor to set up a meeting with a faculty advisor.
  • Faculty advisor submits course substitution/waiver request to the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee for approval. You will be contacted once the committee reaches a decision.
