Next week, there will be no lecture on Monday, 05/26 on account
of Memorial Day. There will be no DL
Meeting on Monday (05/26) and Tuesday (05/27). On Wednesday
(05/28), DL sections 10 and 11 will not meet for their DLs.
However, all other sections will meet
for their DLs on Wednesday (05/28). On Thursday
(05/29) and Friday (05/30) we will have regular DL meetings as scheduled. ·
Two Practice Final(s) are uploaded to help you practice for
the final exam. They can be found HERE
and HERE.
Note that there may be questions on these finals which are no longer part of
the syllabus. Also, these finals are only for practice and do not guarantee
that your final will be identical. Please DO NOT send me any emails asking for answers to the questions
included on these practice finals.
ANNOUNCEMENTS (THURSDAY, 05/15/08): ·
The rubric for Quiz 4 is now

date for submitting a re-grade request for Quizzes 4,
5 and 6 will be after the lecture on Monday
06/02/08. You may, of course, submit the re-grade
request earlier if you want to. Do not forget to staple your quiz to a properly filled out Quiz re-grade form when you turn in a quiz with a quiz re-grade request. ·
The Overview Sheets and FNTs
for DLM 16 and 17 (there is no FNT for DLM 17) are now up on the web. Please

FNTs to print them out before you go to the corresponding DLM. ·
Note Activities 4.3.2 and 4.3.3 in DLM 16 have been replaced. There is also a new
activity 4.3.4 (also for DLM 16) which is not in your DLM
workbook. You can print out all of them together in a single pdf file HERE.
Please get a prinu t-out before you attend DLM 16. ·
Activity 4.4.3 in DLM 17

ANNOUNCEMENTS (TUESDAY, 05/13/08): ·
The sixth (and final) quiz is next Monday, 05/19/08. The syllabus is Lectures 5, 6 and 7; FNTs 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13; and DLMs 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13. The emphasis will be on PARTICLE
MODEL OF THERMAL ENERGY. ·
Swapnonil Banerjee will not have his weekly office hour on Friday, May 16th.
He will hold his office hour on Thursday
instead, at 10:30 am Physics/Geology 4th floor landing. This
arrangement is only for this week.

9, 10 and 11. The emphasis will be on the PARTICLE MODEL OF BOND ENERGY.

bring your graded quiz along with a filled
out quiz re-grade form to me before the lecture. ·
Quiz 4 is next Monday, 05/05/08. The syllabus includes DLMs 5,6,7,8 and 9; FNTs 5,6,7,8 and 9 and Lectures 3, 4 and 5. The
emphasis will be on potential energy graphs (of all kinds), what we can
interpret from them and The Particle Model of Matter.

04/28/08. The syllabus includes DLs

Lectures 2, 3 and 4. The emphasis will be on mechanical systems and the relevant energy systems.
ANNOUNCEMENTS (FRIDAY, 04/18/08): · Quiz
2 is next Monday, 04/21/08. The syllabus
includes DLs 1,2,3,4 and 5, FNTs 1,2,3,4
and 5 and Lectures 1,
2 and 3. · The rubric
for quiz 1 is on the webpage. Go through the rubric and
compare it to the grade you have received. If you want a re-grade, you must fill out a quiz
re-grade form (see link below) and turn the form and
your quiz in to me at the end of Lecture 4. · For DLM
07, you will need graph paper. Follow the link Graph paper below. · For DLM
08, you will need a print out of the Lennard-Jones
potential, which you can get here.
Note that this a two page pdf file. The easiest thing is to print out the two
pages on two sides of the same piece of paper. PREVIOUS

print-outs before you attend the relevant DL section. ·
Do take some time to go through the contents of the link
“Introduction to Physics 7 – a general idea”. You will
become much familiar with the Physics 7 way of doing
things and why it is done that way. |
